Introducing Kitchen Table Talk
A weekly conversation about beauty, hardship, joy, sorrow, and the messy middle of all these things.
Many of you saw my post on IG yesterday bemoaning the latest changes on Instagram—I want you to know I am in no way giving up! In fact, I am more determined than ever to create authentic community here on the internet, and am grateful that Substack can be a haven for those of us who are longing for meaningful connection more than constant entertainment.
Introducing Kitchen Table Talk: a weekly conversation hosted by yours truly about beauty, hardship, joy, sorrow, and the messy middle of all these things. Here we extend grace to ourselves and others as we journey and sometimes stumble along the rocky paths of life, seeking to see the beauty that is there because we believe in a God who says he is here with us.
We come from a variety of backgrounds, experiences, perspectives, and struggles—so the absolute rule of this kitchen table is that we will extend kindness and grace to one another. Meanness will absolutely not be tolerated. Think of this as the family dinner table—we won’t always agree, but we will love and uphold the Imago Dei in each member at the table.
My prayer is that this would be a place of sharing perspectives, listening respectfully, encouraging boldly. May we call out the light we see in others so that they can keep walking into whatever dark valleys they are facing in their lives with greater confidence, and the courage that comes from knowing they are not alone.
I plan to post each week’s topic on Fridays, so I’ll get the ball rolling with the first thread in a few minutes here.
Thank you for your engagement and your encouragement over the past 24 hours—and if you know of someone else you think would enjoy this Substack, or these conversations, would you share it? It means so much and it helps support me in my work as a writer.
Thank you all for your trust and your time in reading these words.
Now, Onward and Upward!
Gracie
