Okay friends, you saw me complain yesterday about the changes on IG, but today I want take a moment to celebrate the good and beautiful fruit that I (we) have encountered on social media in the past. We can take some time to bemoan the ways social media has destroyed us as a society later, but TODAY let us take some time to give thanks for the good fruit we have seen come out of this unlikely space. I’ll go first.
I have made GENUINE friendships in Social Media spaces. The kind of friends who send you a voice message when your grandma dies. The kind of friends who hold space for hope for you when you cannot hold on to it for yourself. And I am SO grateful.
So how about you? What good and beautiful fruit have you encountered on social media?
Social media has been really helpful in my parenting journey by finding guidance from experts in various fields from psychology to CPST to physical therapy and more. It takes me forever to get through a book these days, and I often forget or have a hard time applying what I read, so their videos have been helpful in reminding me and explaining more practical applications.
I have been able to reconnect with friends from former churches - some from 35 + years ago on FaceBook. I have had a very positive experience with FaceBook and it has been wonderful to reconnect with people I have known for a long time, but lost touch with. You, Grace Kelley and your mom Joy Morton are two of those people! Grace Hunter
